Tech Art > Lunar New Year Lanterns

This project showcases a high-poly modeling asset designed for creating lantern mesh prototypes for Lunar New Year scenes.
The goal was to develop a flexible and production-ready modeling setup for generating detailed lantern variations suitable for close-up renders, cinematics, and hero props. The lanterns were built with clean subdivision topology, allowing for fast iteration and silhouette control while preserving surface detail.
To present the asset in a visually clear and elegant way, I created a stylized tree as a display base.
The base blockout of the tree was created in Houdini, where the main forms and branch structure were procedurally defined. Final sculpting, surface refinement, and organic detailing were completed in ZBrush, giving the trunk and branches a natural flow and handcrafted feel.
